We have a great nonprofit to present to you today!  ReEngage, Inc., is a 501(c)3 organization made up of concerned parents, teachers, business people, and community leaders who believe in a holistic approach to the challenges in our community. “We believe that we should take a holistic approach to the challenges of crime, violence, drug abuse, and educational underachievement by focusing on the entire family,” said Rodney Knott, Executive Director of ReEngage, Inc.

The mission of ReEngage, Inc. is to transform males into men through training, support, and empowerment.  “The cure to poverty is not food stamps, free giveaways, etc.,” said Knott. “The cure for poverty is a job and that is our focus.”  ReEngage’s mission is to find these men jobs, and they have done just that.  Just in the past year, they have trained 18 guys and 13 of them are currently working full-time.

ReEngage has tons of extensive programs, including Anger Management , Character Building, Healthy Marriage, Responsibility, etc. that help males on their learning path to men.  They also provide volunteer opportunities.  Just last Saturday, the men of ReEngage helped with a landscaping project for the Bancroft School Apartments.  These are just small examples of the help ReEngage provides these men.

I’ll leave you with a quote from Knott: “We are born male and female and we learn how to be men and women.  In the absence of teachers, how do we learn?”
